Priorities

Setting priorities is a very important thing for every business person; however, for some, it is a difficult thing to do. Below is my own personal summary on things that can be done in order to control and set priorities:

Setting priorities and time management work hand in hand. Below are 3 easy tips to becoming a pro at managing your time:

1. Don’t create impossible situations. Time is your friend not your enemy!

2. Define your priorities by using weekly calendars and techniques such as making to-do lists, as well as a list of goals you wish to achieve within a specific period of time.

3. Avoid DISTRACTIONS and anything that can cause you to lose focus!  DO NOT PROCRASTINATE: try to cut down on TV time until you’ve achieved a certain level of the goals you’ve set; keep telephone conversations to a minimum; and take control of your emotional blocks (i.e. boredom, daydreaming, stress, guilt, anger and frustration).

I am a strong believer in keeping a record (written or electronic)  of all of my goals, meetings and appointments, so that I have a visual of what is going on and when it occurred. It is because of this that I am able to prioritize my tasks and goals efficiently and effectively.  My theory may not be what works for you, but there are so many ways to create something that works best for you and the way you choose to balance business and your personal life.

When priorities are laid out, goals are accomplished timely and smoothly. You can thank your time management and organizational skills when you come to realize how quickly you can achieve success.
