How We Built a Million Dollar Business?
Recently, BizON Incorporated successfully secured $270,000 in seed round investment from strategic partner in order to engage with a premium agency, Impact North. “The investment does not only provide us with the resources we need, but it is providing us with marketing power, advice and guidance in order to continue the momentum of BizON’s growth“, says Nunzio Presta, CEO of BizON.
With that said, how did Nunzio and his team build a million-dollar business? Here are Nunzio’s thoughts:
STORY TELLING
You need to tell your story and connect with people. Story telling is a distinctive human trait that opens up and demands their attention. For example, my story is all about trying to sell by business and how nothing met my expectations.
BECOMING A THOUGHT LEADER & INFLUENCER
At BizON we position ourselves as a community that believes in the power of entrepreneurship and being a small business or franchise owner. Furthermore, we became an authority in providing content, advice and guidance for millennials looking to transition from their 9-5 and acquire a business or franchise (aka- entrepreneurship through acquisition). We have also spearheaded important conversations educating business owners & baby boomers about building valuable and sellable businesses, in anticipation of retirement or any other exit strategy.
RELENTLESSLY WORKING HARD
It’s nice to say that you’ve built a million-dollar business, however, you need to remember that “people are rewarded in public for what they practice for years in private” (Tony Robbins). There have been and still will be many dark days and hard times, and to get through it, you need to have relentless work ethnic fuelled by purpose and passion. My passion is to create, therefore, creating and building a business from a thought into the #1 business for sale marketplace in the world is what gets me going every single minute of every single day. So, in my opinion, if you want to create a million-dollar business, you need to put 4x into it. Therefore, a $1 million dollar business = $4 million worth of relentless hard work, commitment, sacrifice, dedication and time!
DROPPING THE EGO
This comes down to acknowledging what you do well and who you need in order to bring your vision to reality. It is essential to get through projects, deals and conversations with grace, appreciation and consideration for everyone involved.
EMBRACING REJECTION
Fail, move on; get rejected, move on; get a no, move on… The key is to analyze every NO and understand why you received that no. If you do this, you’re “learning” and when you learn, you grow, and when you grow you build! BizON was rejected by more than 200 investors – and it was okay. Every rejection had its reasons and there are no hard feelings. By the time that we received an angel investment and ultimately this seed round investment, you can drastically see the differences in our investor deck, our pitch, our tone and the experience we provided our users. The key was to keep learning, to readjust and to move forward stronger with no loss of enthusiasm. You must have faith in what you do because achieving any ambitious goal is not meant to be easy.
CONSISTENCY
5 years of 18+ hour days, 7 days per week, with a mindset laser focused on consistently growing the BizON marketplace by listening to our users and improving our user experience; by sharing insightful content day in and day out in order to attract and engage with the right audience who appreciates the community we are building; by constantly building relationships with people who align professionally and culturally in order to create good business and to understand that this type of consistency is what makes BizON relevant and top of mind.
TEAMWORK
BizON is a collective effort and wouldn’t be where it is right now if it wasn’t for the entire team! The team took a bold bet on me and my vision. They put their trust in me by sacrificing countless hours to build and grow BizON, and I really appreciate that. Picking the right team, with the right skill set and a winner’s mindset is key, but picking a team that aligns with ‘why‘ we are doing what we do is even more important. This culture puts us in a great position to continue achieving our goals and propel us through all the hard work. I always say that “it’s not going to be easy, but it’s going to be worth it” – and I can eloquently define this with a quote from Jeff Bezos: “We are working to build something important, something that matters to our customers, something that we can tell our grandchildren about. Such things aren’t meant to be easy.”
I am so appreciative for the position I am in and so excited to start the next chapter at BizON. I will always have my athletic cap on and ensure that I prioritize work ethic, team work, creativity, innovation and will always lead by example by sacrificing my sweat and tears in order to build a business that people love to work for and a marketplace that our customers love to use.
Special thanks to our customers and investors – without you none of this would be possible.
