How The Right Words Can Help Sell a Business

Many believe that the right photos and the perfect asking price are all that you need to make your business listing appealing to potential buyers, but truth be told – this is not the case. As the seller, you know all there is to know about what makes your business valuable and it is important not to hide these vital details and descriptions from those who are looking to purchase. What are we talking about? See how you can showcase what your business has to offer effectively below:

Background Story

Has your business been around for a long time? Has it been passed down by generations? Is there a special reason why you started your business? A potential buyer may be interested in the history behind what you have built over the years, so why not share it?

Showcase Significant Milestones & Achievements

Showcasing your business’ milestones and achievements says a lot about your business’ reputation as well as its overall value. A potential buyer is more likely to purchase a business with a stellar reputation and a ton of potential to grow even further.

Words & Phrases!

Be sure to use words and phrases that correctly describe your business within your listing and try not to be “generic”. For example: “Great Business For Sale” is a very basic and general description that says nothing about the business. “Successful Hair Salon in Prime Location” gives a better description of the the business as a whole, including its location, its status and the industry. Potential buyers are more likely to browse and connect with business listings that have a more detailed description.

Be Transparent

DO NOT over embellish your business within your listing or you may lose out on a sale. It is important to be as transparent as possible with the good and the bad as a buyer will not appreciate uncovering unpleasant details during their due diligence or after the sale is final.
